Too Little

Chancery has been walking around saying “Potty” & pulling her jeans down the last few days.  So much so, that it’s near impossible to keep her from pulling them down.  I’ve tried telling her that she’s still too little, but she just pulls her jeans down & says, “Chancery, potty!”

So, I broke down yesterday & pulled out the little potty for her.  She has thoroughly enjoyed sitting on it, to the point that I have to tell her that it’s time to get off the potty sometimes.

Much to my surprise, the second time she sat on it yesterday, she immediately wee’d in it.  I don’t think she really understood what happened, but we all cheered for her and she started clapping too.  Asher has become a great encourager.  He likes to sit right beside her on the floor & offer her drinks.

The truth is, I’m not ready to get her potty trained just yet.  Not because I’m not ready for my little girl to grow up, but because I’m just not convinced that she is old enough to be able to tell us when she has to go, and have the ability to hold it when there’s no washroom nearby.  Besides, do they even make pants for a 19 month old?

  1. my friends daughter was potty trained at 14 months. There is always hope. How hard is it to say pee?

  2. Physiologically a child can have bladder control between 18--24 months...2nd children always surprise you at how fast they learn everything but really chancery has a great role model in Asher...

  3. Ariah started peeing on the potty at 18 mths, and by the amount of words Chancery says, she's definately ready!! Good luck!!

  5. just use pull-ups for now until she really learns and overnight of course, that's what we did with Kenneth. Then if she doesn't make it right away it's not the end of the world, but at least you aren't discouraging her and she had time to learn and grow into it.

  6. Whenever a child can say potty and know what to do on it, they are ready!!! You may still have accidents occassionally but good for her!!!

  7. I say go for it! Sierra and Janessa were trained at almost the same time because Janessa wanted to everything Sierra did. She was completely traind (through the night too), just after she turned two!
