Water & Rhubarb

After all the excitement of the Zoo, we decided to have a relatively quiet day at the house.  The kids spent the morning riding bikes & playing in the yard.  In the afternoon we headed to the pool.

It was such a nice day that the adults joined in the fun too!

After swimming it was time for dinner.

...and apparently cat catching.
The kids spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out where 'Peanut' was!

We happened to be in town during fair days, & when in a small town, you must participate in small town activities....
This night happened to be the annual rhubarb toss.  You read that right.  You take a stalk of rhubarb & try to toss it into one of 3 buckets to win prizes.

Chancery won a prize!

And she finally lost her tooth!

Up Through the Rockies

When PChad & I lived in Alberta, we often drove the Crowsnest Pass to get to my parents, or go on holidays in the States.  We decided to take the Kootenay Highway up into the Rockies this time since we had only done that once before.

We saw the giant truck in Sparwood
(as we drove by!  No time to stop!)

PChad & I had stopped at Fort Steele the one other time we had taken this road, & it was fun, but the weather Friday did not make for a great day to do the fort.  We stopped for fuel & snapped this crazy photo & called it good!

We decided it was perfect weather to swim at Fairmont hot springs!  All throughout Yellowstone, the kids kept asking to feel the water in the hot springs, & imagining how warm the water would be, & how fun it would be to swim in it, so we took them to a hot springs you are allowed to swim in, on a cool day.

The kids had a great time, & I thoroughly enjoyed the warm water!

January Trip

Since December is always a very busy time for us, we try to take a weekend away in January.  This year we headed to Moncton.  We stayed at a hotel with a waterslide, & happened to get a room with bunk beds!  I will definitely be requesting bunk beds again!  Had I known this was an option, I would have been asking at every hotel we have stayed at for the past few years.  (It is a lot harder to kick your sibling when you are in bunk beds!)

The weekend was great.  The kids had a fun morning swimming, the parents had a fun afternoon at Costco & Princess Auto, & we all had a great time at Crystal Palace!

IMG_0892 The Jumpin’ Star is very exciting!

IMG_0894 Asher is pumped for the roller coaster!

IMG_0897 Chancery really enjoyed mini golf this year.  She played the whole course twice!

An Afternoon on the Lake

On our holidays with PChad’s family, we took the boat out for some waterskiing & tubing. Asher & Chancery had never been before, & it had been 8 years since I had gone, & 11 years for PChad.  We had a relatively good day for it.  The weather wasn’t too hot, so we were thankful that our wetsuits still fit… barely!

7-027

The kids were ready to go, though I’m not sure they really knew what they were getting into!

7-036

I’m up, I’m up!  But I sure felt those muscles the next day!

7-045

I think Owen was doing a little trash-talk to get Asher ready

7-050

Chancery had a great time with Uncle Troy, & despite the look on his face, Asher said he had fun too!

Last Day on Newfoundland

On our last morning in Newfoundland, our ferry ended up being delayed 4 hours.  Since we had some time to kill, we headed out to the boardwalk along the beach.

01

The kids enjoyed ‘working out’ at all the different stations along the way.

08

We watched the waves come into this little inlet, & Asher insisted that I take a picture of it.

10

And the brave ones hit the waves.  It was pretty cold out in the water, so Chancery & I stayed dry.

11

There was a short forest that the kids enjoyed roaming around in as well.

29

We finally made it onto the ferry for the long ride back to Nova Scotia!

36

The kids enjoyed having the playroom almost entirely to themselves, and it had a TV, which made the 6 hour ride a little more bearable.

Shining Waters Day

We took a nice sunny day with the cousins to go to Shining Waters.  The kids (& adults) had a great time on the waterslides, & hardly stopped to have something to eat!

IMGP1219

Asher loved the tube slides!

IMGP1225

When we finally did get the kids to take a break, we decided to wander around the rest of the park & see what there was to see.

IMGP1227

We found a train to play on…

IMGP1229

…and a wonky house!

IMGP1232

The kids enjoyed the rollercoaster, but it was a bit of a rough ride!

P8150149

Tara & I decided too pass up a ride on the roller coaster.

IMGP1238

The Fun House was a hit, & we went through it about 15 times!

P8150121

Who can pass up a unicorn ride?

P8150146

And we finished by visiting the animals & playing on the tractor!

We had a great time at Shining Waters, & I’ll definitely have to bring the kids again next year!

Fun, Fun, Fun!

After out trip to Moncton, we went home for a few days to recuperate, then we were off to Mill River!

IMG_6062
Our first day was a beautiful sunny day, so we headed to the Fun Park.  The kids had a great time playing in the ball pit!

IMG_6064
There are a few waterslides, & Asher got over his fear of water long enough to go down by himself.  Chancery lasted for about an hour, but the water was pretty cold, so for the remainder of the day, she was content to sit wrapped in a towel & eat all the chips.

We had a really good day, & were glad we had chosen that day to go since the weather got increasingly worse each day…

Drowning Man

Drowning really is no laughing matter, but now everytime I see someone write “lol” I see this little man struggling to stay afloat.

Bring In The Replacements

Asher is in swimming lessons this fall. He gets to go on Thursday afternoons & PChad takes him. He has gone twice so far & seems to enjoy it, but a week is a long time in between. He asks everyday, "Do I get to go to swimming lessons today?" And we tell him that he has to wait until next Thursday.

Friday Asher woke up from his nap & noticed that PChad was not around. As we were eating our snack, Asher asked, "Did Daddy got to swimming lessons with a different boy?"
