Old Books

In our house, we treasure books.  Some of my favourite books are old kids books.  Some from when I was little, & some from even before that!  I find the old stories quite fun, & the different wording is quite interesting.  Some of our favourites happen to be Golden Books.

Chancery was looking at a stack of books during her rest time today, & when I went into her room, she said, “I’m not done all these books that you gave me!  I’m reading this one, but I don’t like the Chubby Chuck Chewie…  Who is this girl anyway?”

This was the book in question…

The book Chancery had just finished was lying nearby, & I pointed out that it was the same character as the girl in the bird book…il_fullxfull.232295493

I always loved the illustrations in these books, but apparently they are disturbing to Chancery!

Asher – 6 years

Chancery – 4 years

Chancery: “I have BRAIDS today!”

Asher: “Russell wants to say ‘Hello!’”

Chancery: “Don’t hold Russell right in front, then people can’t see what you are wearing!”

Asher: “I’m even showing them my black socks!”

Chancery: “Asher, now people can’t see what I’m wearing!”

Asher: “You are right, I’ll have to move Russell for you, Chancery.”

Chancery: “Just wait a minute, Mummy, we’re getting situated for the perfect picture!”

Asher: “How’s this?”

Not A Girl

Asher piped up from the backseat of the car the other day…

Asher: “I’m glad I’m not a girl.”

Me: “Why?”

Asher: “Because now I don’t ever have to get earrings in my ears.”

Me: “You don’t want earrings?”

Asher: “No, I think it would hurt too much, so I’m glad I don’t have to get them.”

I didn’t bother telling him that guys can get their ears pierced too.  So far, I don’t think we’ll have to worry about that for awhile.

Chancery was playing in the living room the other day & I was doing something in the kitchen.  She called out…

Chancery: “Can you help me?”

Me: “Yes give me a minute.”

Chancery: “Give you a minute?”

Me: “Yes, just a minute.”

Chancery: “I can’t, I don’t have any minutes in my purse!”

Amazing E!

Chancery was having quite time looking at books in her room today when I heard a little voice call out, “Mummy?  Or Daddy?  Or anybody?  Did you know that the letter E can make sounds like ‘eee!’ or ‘eh’?”

“That’s pretty neat isn’t it?” I replied.

“Yes it is!” Chancery responded, then went right back to her reading.  It’s so fun to hear kids start to understand letters, words, & reading!

Chancery – 4 years

Chancery: “Asher is reading a book about popcorn!”

Chancery: “I really like popcorn, just like the bear in the book!”

Chancery: “But the bear makes to much popcorn & it goes everywhere!”

Asher: “But the bear & his friends eat all the popcorn before bear’s parents get home.”

Chancery: “If that happened at our house, we would need a flashlight!”

Asher: “It sure would be fun, hey, Chancery?”

It was a warm & rainy Halloween night, but the kids braved the elements & went around the neighbourhood.  They collected quite a stash of candy, chips, & even a few cans of soda!  The kids didn’t even need to be told that it was time to head home, they decided they were done & came in on their own accord!  Asher had his costume stripped off within seconds of coming through the front door.

Here’s our brood:

Alexa was a witch, Yumi paid tribute to PEI & went as Anne of Green Gables, Asher was a Giraffe, & Chancery was a friendly Lion!
