Asher: “We have balloons today!”

Asher: “And I have my first loose tooth!”

Chancery: “His tooth is not coming out!”

Asher: “We even tried the pliers, but they were no match for my tooth!”

Chancery: “He’ll have his baby teeth forever.”

Asher: “Maybe we’ll loose our teeth at the same time!”

Sticky Bun Cake

When I was younger, I loved it when my mum, or Aunt made monkey bread.  A few years ago, I made it again, & it just didn’t measure up to my memories of it.  It was dry, & just not that great.

A few months ago, I ran across a recipe for Cinnamon Bun Cake made in a bundt pan with Pillsbury biscuits, & decided to try it.  Once again, it was just too dry.  I searched recipe sites for other recipes for a cinnamon bread with the Pillsbury biscuits, & after some trial & error I combined a few elements from 3 different recipes & came up with my own version of Sticky Bun Cake, & it is delicious!

Sticky Bun Cake

2 small tubes of Pillsbury Biscuits

3/4 C Pancake Syrup

1/2 C Brown Sugar

3/4 t Cinnamon

1/3 C Chopped Pecans

Spray Bundt pan with Pam.

Cut biscuits into 1/4’s & set aside.

Mix all other ingredients in large bowl.

Add biscuits & mix until well coated.

Bake @ 375° 20 min ‘til golden brown.

Cool in pan, then flip onto plate!

Church Picnic 2013

July First was the Annual Church Picnic, & we had pretty nice weather, not too many bugs, & lots of fun!

Asher’s Sunday School class had a potato sack race.  The instructions were, “Hop to the end, hop around the can & come back.”

As you can see, Asher had some difficulty with what he was supposed to do…

Chancery’s Sunday School class had 2 teams which filled up a cup, ran it down the field & tried to fill their bucket first.

Chancery tried hard, but her teammates were not all that concerned about winning…

There was a bit of confusion every time the cup was passed to the next person, but the kids all had fun.

During the last part of the race, Chancery ran into another kid, & her cup of water got all over her shirt.  She was pretty upset about it, but then they handed out the prizes, & she got some princess hairclips.  Princess hairclips make everything better!

After lunch it was time for the adult games!

We had to run down the field, put on a scuba mask, lifejacket & flippers, then run back.  We also had 2 buckets which we had to walk down the field with 2 other team members moving the buckets for us to take our next step in.

The last part of the challenge was to stack 6 straw bales into a tower & get all your team members back across the line while your tower was still standing.

Once again, the games were a lot of fun, & it was great to see all the teams getting so into it!

Asher: “These are my favourite DS games.”

Chancery: “Oh, Asher, this is so boring!”

Asher: “No, I like to play them when I am bored, but they are not boring!”

Chancery: “I could just fall asleep right now!”

Chancery: “There are plenty of other fun things to do…”

Chancery: “Like playing in pools, or sprinklers, or going to the beach!”

Chancery: “Making silly faces is really fun!  You should try it, Asher!”

Chancery: “See?”

Asher: “You were right, Chancery!  That was fun!”

Hay Ride

We recently went on a hayride at a friend’s farm.

The kids really enjoyed running around in the trailer & climbing up the racks.

And I discovered that if I sit between PChad & Chancery, I don’t get any bug bites… unfortunately they do!

And since it was Asher’s birthday, we finished the day with some pizza!

Asher’s 7th Birthday!

We celebrated Asher’s birthday on the Sunday after he turned 7, so that Yumi & Alexa could join us.

Asher picked the cake, & we had a delicious DQ Ice cream cake!

Then he opened his presents…

A new DS game!

And a Lego ideas book!  Now he can make some really cool planes, vehicles, & buildings!

Asher was really excited about the robot card he got from Yumi!

And Star Wars Lego!

Then it was time for another treasure hunt!

(Skateboards are hard to wrap!)

He was awfully excited about his gifts!  He tried out his new skateboard for a bit, then went to his room & played Lego for the next 2 hours!

Chancery’s Grad

I realized I’m a bit behind on the things happening here.  Such is life in the summertime.  Though we have not had much summer weather yet, we only got out to the beach once so far, but we’re hoping for a hot August!

Chancery graduated from her Pre-K program, & we were all excited for this milestone.

Due to privacy issues, we can only post pictures of our own kids, so I present Chancery the graduate!

She was quite pleased with herself as well.

The school did a great program full of enthusiastic singing!  It was a very fun night followed by some yummy snacks!
