Sunday Pictures

Asher – 7 years

Chancery – 5 years

Asher: “I have some pictures that I coloured!”

Chancery: “And I have the ‘Swan Princess’ book!”

Asher: “Here is a picture of Mario with Sonic the Hedgehog, isn’t that awesome?”

Chancery: “I can’t believe it, Asher!  Your pictures are amazing!”

Asher: “Thanks, Chancery!  That makes me feel good!”

Before the Birthday Celebration, & the Birthday Present Day, there was the Pre-Birthday Celebration!

Since we were in Alberta 2 weeks before Chancery’s birthday, & we rarely get to see our extended family for birthdays, we had cake one night after dinner to celebrate Chancery’s birthday together.

She was very excited about the balloons on her cake, & even took them home to PEI with us!

Chancery got a birthday card from Grandpa & Grandma, & she was extremely pleased to hear that she was allowed to buy her own present once she got back home.  It was all I could do to make her wait until we had her present opening day before she went to the store.  But she did talk me into some pre-purchase browsing.  She knew exactly what she was going to buy well before she went shopping!

More Animals!

We had stopped by the Helen Schuler Nature Centre a few times during our stay in Lethbridge, because the kids really wanted to hold Sophie the Snake.  Unfortunately every time we stopped happened to be on feeding days.  So, we decided to try once more before our trip was over.

Asher was not a fan of the song playing on the radio on the way there.

Yay!  We finally get to hold Sophie!

No, we’re not getting one as a pet.

Chancery was just as excited to hold Sophie, but she kept trying to get Sophie to kiss her nose!

Mission accomplished!

What’s Better Than a Park?

A museum with things to climb!

The kids are fascinated with the big train bridge that goes through Lethbridge.  Since there are no trains on PEI anymore, even train tracks are an exciting thing to come across, but the high level bridge is huge!

I told the kids to go sit on the big wheel for a picture…

But they seem to take after their mother & like to see just how high they can climb!

I can’t really fault them, since I was tempted to climb up too.

“Look, we made it to the top of this one too!”

Park Days

I’m continuing my posts about our Alberta Vacation, even though we’ve been back home a few weeks already.  I just want to get it all documented!

We spent a morning at a park near PChad’s parents’ house.  It was a bit chilly under the trees, so we packed our sweaters too.  We went to this park a lot with Asher when we lived with PChad’s parents a few years ago.  It’s amazing how much more he enjoyed the park now 5 years later!

The kids were having a great time playing on the springy toys…

And PChad is not one to miss out on fun!

Asher – 7 years

Chancery – 5 years

Asher: “I have a really cool car!”

Chancery: “I have some very pretty fairies!”

Asher: “Those are very nice fairies, Chancery.”

Chancery: “I named them Dazzling Diamond & Butterfly!”

Asher: “Maybe I should name my car too!”

Present Day!

IMG_0209In keeping with tradition at our house, we had Chancery’s cake & present opening day the day after her birthday.  When you are trying to coordinate, cake eating, bedtimes, meeting schedules, & the girls’ work schedules, this seems to be the only way we can make it work.

Cake is done, let the present opening commence!

Chancery was very excited about her new water bottles for school that she got from Grandpa & Grandma!

Chancery knew I had a box of beanie baby kitties in the basement & has been hounding me for the black one.  She was ecstatic to get it as a present!

Chancery had never seen the first Despicable Me movie, so on day 3 of her birthday celebrations she finally got to see it, & “it was awesome!”

The last present had lots of tape…

She almost needed help…

And it was a box full of Polly Pockets!

Asher may or may not have spent the evening playing with the Polly Pockets with Chancery, but at bedtime he said, “Why would I have played with those dolls?  Dolls are for girls!”

Tree Removal

PChad’s parents had a tree in their backyard that they wanted to remove.  Of course if there is a climbable tree involved, Asher & Chancery will be there.

During the tree removal, Grandpa decided to make a few notches for the kids to climb.  Then it became a good perch to watch all the action.  The only thing that would have made it better was if there were 2 of them.  Sharing is hard!

First Asher made it to the top…

Then Chancery made it to the top all by herself!

Guess who else made it to the top?

For some reason Kaitlyn was worried about helping me down!

Chancery’s 5th Birthday!

Chancery woke up on her birthday & put her pink dress on.  We had thought about doing some berry picking, so we told her she could put her dress on for dinner instead.  Berry picking ended up not working out, so we headed to the beach with some friends instead.  We stayed out for most of the day, & the weather was perfect!

Chancery was pleased with her birthday badge too!

And we decided to ask this cool dude if he wanted to join us for dinner!

Chancery chose Pizza Delight for dinner “because they have kitty cat pizza & a treasure chest!”

Chancery also invited Miss Geesje & Reina to join us for her birthday dinner!

Miss Geesje got some fashion tips from Asher!

Chancery was very excited about her gifts!

“Thank you, Miss Geesje!”

And even though it wasn’t his birthday, Asher got a gift too!

“Thank you, Miss Geesje!”
