What a Way to Spend Islander Day!

Yesterday was Islander Day, so the kids had off from school.  We had made plans to go to Mr Harrie & Miss Geesje’s farm in the morning, so after breakfast, we waited for PChad to clear the snow off the driveway & off we went!  We always head to the barn first, & the kids were delighted that one of their favourite cats “Butterfinger” was there to greet them & be pet.

There were also twin calves born that morning, so we got to see the 2 tiny heifers.  One of the calves in the calf pens really wanted to get out & see us.  Every time we passed in front of her pen, she would stretch her neck out & try to lick us.  She even licked Butterfinger, which the kids found really funny!  Chancery got licked by a cow as well, but apparently she didn’t taste very good, because that cow sure shook her head a lot afterward!

Then we went into the house for coffee time!  Mr Harrie has been teaching Asher how to play cribbage, & they played for quite awhile.  Chancery made some playdough with Miss Geesje, & I just drank lots of coffee!

After we left the farm, we headed to the MOVIE THEATRE!  We had gotten a coupon from a cereal box, so PChad & I decided to take the kids to see Frozen.  It was only playing at 12:30, so PChad brought burgers, & we had a lunch of burgers & popcorn during the movie.  We all had a great time at the movie, & I think it is one of the best ones Disney has made in the last while.

We headed back home & the kids had a bit of rest-time, then we played for awhile, & ordered Domino’s Pizza for dinner!  It was a busy, but very enjoyable day!

My 35th Birthday

Yesterday was my 35th birthday.  I had a wonderful day celebrating, in the most unusual manner.  Had someone told me a few years ago that I would be celebrating by spending the day shopping with 3 ladies who are twice my age, & having the most delightful time, I don’t think I would have believed them!

I have been part of a cross-stitching group through my church for a few years now, & the ladies & I have become quite good friends.  We were scheduled to have a stitching day on my birthday, but then Ellen (one of the members) called me & asked if I would like to go to Moncton for the day with the ladies instead.  I thought that sounded fun, so I agreed, then Ellen said, “That’s great… would you be able to drive us?”  Well, I do love to drive, so I agreed to that too!

Our first stop was Timmy’s; after the long drive we had to get our caffeine fix!  Then we went to the cross-stitch store, & spent a good amount of time there re-stocking supplies, & browsing.

IMG_0949 Then it was off to Montana’s for lunch.  I think I was the only one who had been to a Montana’s before, so I showed them the ropes.

IMG_0951 Gonda was surprised to be given a Mason jar to drink from!

IMG_0952 Since it was my birthday I got to wear the birthday hat!

And Gonda’s birthday is the day after mine, so she got a hat too!

We then headed to Costco, and ended the day walking the mall.  By the time we decided to head home I think we were all shopped out, but it was one of my most fun birthdays!  I’m really glad to call these ladies my friends!

January Trip

Since December is always a very busy time for us, we try to take a weekend away in January.  This year we headed to Moncton.  We stayed at a hotel with a waterslide, & happened to get a room with bunk beds!  I will definitely be requesting bunk beds again!  Had I known this was an option, I would have been asking at every hotel we have stayed at for the past few years.  (It is a lot harder to kick your sibling when you are in bunk beds!)

The weekend was great.  The kids had a fun morning swimming, the parents had a fun afternoon at Costco & Princess Auto, & we all had a great time at Crystal Palace!

IMG_0892 The Jumpin’ Star is very exciting!

IMG_0894 Asher is pumped for the roller coaster!

IMG_0897 Chancery really enjoyed mini golf this year.  She played the whole course twice!

IMG_0899 Back on the roller coaster for another ride!

IMG_0900 And the kids enjoyed a final ride on the Convoy.

More Stripes

Asher picked out a new church shirt when we went shopping a few weeks ago, & it reminded me of a shirt he had when he was little.
