Fun, Fun, Fun!

After out trip to Moncton, we went home for a few days to recuperate, then we were off to Mill River!

IMG_6062
Our first day was a beautiful sunny day, so we headed to the Fun Park.  The kids had a great time playing in the ball pit!

IMG_6064
There are a few waterslides, & Asher got over his fear of water long enough to go down by himself.  Chancery lasted for about an hour, but the water was pretty cold, so for the remainder of the day, she was content to sit wrapped in a towel & eat all the chips.

We had a really good day, & were glad we had chosen that day to go since the weather got increasingly worse each day…

Asher: “Today we have decided to accessorize with pink.”

IMG_6124

Chancery: “And Asher had to borrow my pink purse because he didn’t have anything pink!”

IMG_6126

Asher: “I wish you hadn’t pointed out to everyone that I have a purse…”

IMG_6131

Chancery: “Well, it’s not like people won’t notice!”

IMG_6127

Chancery: “Sorry if I embarrassed you, Asher.”

IMG_6128

Asher: “That’s ok… Hey, this bus is not pink, it’s red!”

IMG_6129

Chancery: “And this pony is blue!”

IMG_6130

Chancery: “Hey, I found a pink one!”

IMG_6132

Asher: “Thanks for joining us!”

The Sweater

This song brings me back to grade 5.  We sang it quite a bit, & we may have believed in the message of it as well…

Do you remember this one?

Crystal Palace!

Our second day in Moncton, we hit the amusement park.  I didn’t get many pictures since we were kept busy riding the roller coaster, the carousel, the train, & lots of other rides.  I ended up hanging out mostly with Chancery, so the pictures I did manage to get are mostly of her.

IMG048

She inexplicably chose to ride the tiny ponies on the carousel which didn’t even go up & down.  I was saddened by this since it meant I had to just sit on the bench & go round & round.

IMG049

After we had exhausted most of the rides we let the kids have their first taste of cotton candy…

IMG051

which of course was a big hit!  Two weeks later, Asher is still talking about how much fun he had at Crystal Palace, & almost daily he asks when we can go back.

Off To The Zoo!

IMG_6022

PChad had a few weeks off, so we decided rather than taking a long trip involving lots of driving, we’d take 2 short, local trips.

IMG_6023

The first trip was to Moncton.  Day one we decided to visit the zoo since I had a free family pass I’d been carrying around for the past 2 years.  We decided it was finally time to cash it in.

IMG_6027

The zoo in Moncton isn’t all that big, but it was the perfect size for a nice, leisurely day with two little ones with the attention spans of gnats.

IMG_6029

We saw almost all the animals, & the only thing we really missed out on was the otters, but their tank was being rebuilt & they weren’t there.  I guess that means another trip in a few years’ time!

IMG_6038

Once the kids had had enough of the hands off approach, we gave them the option of pony rides, or face paint.  They ever so wisely chose pony rides, but after they were through there was an attempt to get faces painted as well.  We squashed that dream (they have to learn about choices, right?) and then bought them slushies.  It was a happy moment for all involved!

IMG_6040

We couldn’t leave without taking advantage of a photo-op, so we told Asher to go be a tiger.IMG_6049

Note Chancery taking the opportunity to steal a sip of Asher’s slushie…

IMG_6093

Chancery: “The pirates like to siiiing, and plaaaay…”

IMG_6096

Asher: “Chancery, I’m pretty sure that’s not what it says…”

IMG_6094

Chancery: “Asher, I am the one who has the book, so you don’t know what it says.”

IMG_6095

Asher: “But if you look at the words, Chancery, they don’t say what you said!”

IMG_6098

Chancery: “You have read this book lots of times, Asher, so I thought you might be bored with what it says, so I made up something new for you!”

IMG_6097

Asher: “Well, in that case, READ ON!”

Chancery: “And now we’re awake again!”

Ever Had A Bad Dream?

Pchad’s on holidays for a few weeks, so we’ve been busy going here & there, doing fun summery stuff.  I’ll catch you up on our activities once we’re back to normal around here…

Here’s an amazing dance to tide you over!

Chancery: “Do you think this is a piece of liquorice, Asher?”

IMG_6016

Asher: “I doubt it.  Mummy doesn’t let us have candy in the livingroom.”

IMG_6018

Chancery: “Well, that’s true.”

IMG_6019

Asher: “But maybe we can have some candies later, Chancery.”

IMG_6020

Asher: “When I went in Mummy’s room this morning, I asked her right away if I could have a lollipop.  She said no, but I’m planning on wearing her down over the course of the day.”

IMG_6021

Chancery: “That sounds like a pretty good plan, Asher!”

Piñatas

Dairy Queen has always had good ads.  I think this one is particularly good.  It brings back the 80’s, doesn’t it?

Makes you start to wonder, what else could you fill a piñata with?

Something Nice

Asher was in a complaining mood the other day.  After he woke up from his nap I told him, “We’re going to the beach!”

Asher: “I don’t want to go to the beach!”

Me: “Well, we are going to the beach anyway!!!!”

We went & the kids had a great time playing in the sand & the waves.  When it was time to go, I told the kids, “OK, time to pack up to go home!”

Asher: “I don’t want to go home!”

Me: “You didn’t even want to come to the beach in the first place, & now it’s time to go home for dinner!!!!!”

On our way home, I was beginning to feel quite hungry.

Me: “I can’t wait for dinner, we’re going to have chicken!”

Asher: “I don’t want to have chicken!”

Me: “Asher, you have been complaining all day.  I don’t want to hear you say anything else unless it’s something nice.”

Asher: “Please can I not have chicken?”

It wasn’t exactly what I meant, but I think he was beginning to get the idea…

“Camping”

Friends of ours were staying in cabins over the holiday weekend, so we went out to join them for dinner one night.

IMG_5936

Chancery was having a hard time getting the hang of badminton.  I think she was confused about what the point of the game was.  She kept trying to put the racket through the net.

IMG_5939

There were a few other couples who came out for dinner that night too, so we ended up having a pretty big crew.

IMG_5941

Asher stole PChad’s chair & thought it was hilarious!  It was about this time that it was also pointed out that the two of them were matching.

IMG_5945

Asher really enjoyed the watermelon

IMG_5956

We ended the night with a campfire & s’mores.  It was a perfect day of ‘camping’.

Baby Chicks

We are part of a vegetable co-op this year.  It has been quite the experience for me, since I have to learn how to cook around vegetables, instead of making the menu based on meat.
IMG001
The farmers we get our veggies from also have a few animals, & I took the kids out to the farm to see them last week.

IMG003

Asher is at that stage where he really wants to hold, or touch any animal he encounters, but as soon as he has, he’s looking around for the next thing.

He enjoyed the chicks, but then he wanted to go ‘pet’ the chickens…

IMG004
Luckily I could distract him by drawing their attention to the swingset.

IMG007
And of course, who doesn’t love a tire swing?
IMG008

Apparently it became more of a bucking bronco…
IMG009

The kids had a great time on our little farm adventure.  I’m so glad they have the opportunity to experience a bit of farm life sometimes.
