Maybe I Should Vacuum More
Leonard the Dragon
As I mentioned a few days ago, I bought Asher a dragon costume after Haloween b/c it was on sale for $3. I figured he’d have some fun wearing it from time to time, but I had NO IDEA that he’d want to wear it ALL the TIME!
It really is a cute costume, but it does cause some difficulty when he wants to go up stairs w/ anything in his hands. Also, he’s been throwing toys from time to time & in order to give him a time out has become quite the ordeal. First I have to wrestle the costume off him & w/o much help from him b/c he wants to keep it on & he also doesn’t WANT a time out. And potty training? Yeah, we’re gonna let that slide for awhile.
As for the name “Leonard”…. well, sometimes I randomly pick a few names & ask if that’s the name. Apparently it’s name wasn’t “Puff” or “Danny”, but “Leonard.” I’m sure my uncle w/ the same name will be honoured!

Ice Cream Truck
The following is an actual conversation that took place yesterday b/w Asher & Grandma…….
Grandma (as the Ice Cream Truck): “Hello, I’m an Ice Cream Truck. I have ice cream for all the boys & girls!”
Asher: “You have GIRLS in there?!”
Grandma: “Umm, no. I have ice cream FOR the little girls & boys.”
I think Asher found the prospect of little girls being in the truck a bit more exciting than it being full of ice cream.

Ordination
Pastor Chad is now officially a “Reverend” or “Dominee” or whatever you want to call it. Sunday he had his installation service & here are the pictures I took. I felt kinda funny taking pictures during prayers & such, but I figured it was a once in a lifetime thing & braved it anyways. Without further ado:
Laying on of hands
Reverend Chad performing the Sacrament of Communion
Giving the blessing (he’s finally allowed to hold his hands up!)
And the best part!
It was REALLY good cake…..
Don’t worry, he’s still fairly down to earth!

Chicken Diable
My brother asked for this recipe so I figured since I was typing it out I might as well share it w/ all of you. It’s one of my favourite dishes since it’s easy to prepare & only takes about an hour. What are your easy stand-bys?
Chicken Diable -Preheat oven to 375°
1/4 C Butter or hard margarine
1/4 C Honey
1/4 C Corn Syrup
1/4 C Prepared Mustard
1 tsp Curry Powder (I usually mix mild & hot b/c I am a wimp)
1 tsp Salt
3 lbs Chicken breast
Put all except chicken in 9×13. Melt in oven. Stir well.
Arrange Chicken in pan & turn to coat both sides.
Bake uncovered 375° 30min - 1 hour ’til tender
Serves 4-6
*I always serve w/ Sidekicks Honey Garlic Noodles. (I’m not very inventive, so once I find a combination that works I stick w/ it!)

A: I asked you to please stop leaning on me!
A: Now you can sit up all by yourself!
C: See, Mum? I TOLD you he picks on me!
C: Are we almost done yet? I have an appointment.
A: If I smile can I have ice cream?
C: How come I never get any ice cream?
A: She’s touching me again!
C: I was just trying to see if he had any ice cream!
More to come……..

Profound Statement
The other day I was helping Asher get into a dragon costume that I bought after Haloween for him to play with. It’s sometimes a bit of a struggle to get him into it b/c it’s a bit bulky, but he LOVES this dragon costume & wants to wear it CONSTANTLY! I told him to lift his foot up & he said, “Hold on to Mummy….. AND to Jesus.”
Now, I know he was simply referring to the “Stand Up For Jesus” song we sing to him, but I thought it was still a pretty profound statement. We should remember when things get difficult to hold on to Jesus.

Christmas Is Coming............
Yesterday at the grocery store I passed the Canada Post area & remembered I ran out of stamps for the States. I stopped to get some & while she was getting them for me she asked how many I wanted.
“But,” she said, “you’ll need to use them before the prices go up in January.”
Wait, JANUARY? How did it get to the point that we’re talking about January already? I haven’t even THOUGHT about Christmas cards yet….. CHRISTMAS CARDS! I have to get working on Christmas cards! I only have a month left before they should go out!*
“Hello, Ma’am? How many stamps would you like?”
I guess it’s good I got my warning now, I can’t have Christmas sneaking up on me like that. I’m just not ready for it yet!
*Canada Post is notoriously slow, especially at Christmastime.

Before You Go To The Polls
Saying Sorry
Apparently there was a small dent in the wall, so PC was telling Asher that he must have a really hard head & he should aplogize to the wall for hurting it. Asher said, "I can't say sorry to the wall! It doesn't have a face & eyes!"
I suppose that's a pretty good rule of thumb, you don't have to apologize to things that don't have a face & eyes.

It's a Love/Hate Thing
He put a chair by the patio door & sat enthralled by it all. P. Chad asked him what he was doing.
A: "I'm watching the snow."
PC: "Ok."
A: "It's really fun!"
Asher wanted to put on his "snow shoes" (I'm pretty sure he meant snow boots) & go outside in it, but we didn't have time before church & we don't have snow boots or snow pants for him yet. After church I was prepared for another request if it was still snowing.
After the service we were walking to the truck & it was snowing a little bit. Asher all of a sudden proclaimed, "I don't LIKE it in my face! I don't LIKE it in my eyes!" I told him that we just had to walk to the truck & then we could get out of the snow.
During lunchtime today he told P. Chad, "Watching snow is fun, but I don't like it in my face & my eyes at church b/c I don't like cold things in my eyes."

A Little Confusion
Today they were quizzing him on what he's supposed to say when they go out. He looked a littel confused, so they explained the process:
- Get costume on
- Go out to the neighbors
- Say "_______"
- Get candies!
"So, what do you say when you knock on the people's door?"
Asher's response?
"Doughnut!"
