I thoroughly enjoyed this, & I hope you will too…
HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!!
As I was driving the kids home from church the other day Asher had a burning question…
Asher: “Mum, when I am old enough to drive, will they teach me where to go too? Because I’ll be old enough to drive, but I don’t know how to get to places!”
Me: “As you get older you’ll start to pay more attention, & you’ll just know how to get to most of the places you need to go.”
Asher: “But I don’t even know the way to my school!”
The week before, PChad & I had gone on a retreat & left the kids with a sitter. She had to drive Asher to school & wasn’t entirely sure where to go, so had asked him to help navigate. Apparently he wasn’t much help & she had to Google it instead. Asher stewed over it all week, & it had become a bit of a worry for him…

Asher: “Look at all this crazy stuff, Chancery!”
Chancery: “Yeah, there’s an elephant pulling a band in a parade!”
Asher: “The parade is going so fast, that a man put a trailer on the back!”
Chancery: “That’s so silly, Asher!”
Chancery: “Can you guess what book we are reading?”

Asher: “Our Mum is better than these pokemon cards.”
Asher: “And she can defeat this one easily.”
Chancery: “Our Mum is the very best!”
Chancery: ♪♫ “We love our muuuum! ♫ She’s awe-sooooome!” ♫♪
Asher: “That was a great song, Chancery!”
Chancery has been on a colouring streak for the last few months, & every time she finishes a piece, she wants us to take a picture of it. (Probably because she knows it will get thrown out in the next week)
We’re still working on getting her to look at the camera…
She’s pretty good for a 4 1/2 year old, but I am comparing her to Asher, who never took a whole lot of time to make sure he was staying in the lines.
I’ve been sorting through all the baby stuff & getting rid of lots of stuff. Chancery was hanging around while I was going through some bags, & she took a liking to a gold bag I had discarded.
Chancery told me that she had a great idea…
“Mummy, I’m a cafe racer! I have a racing suit on!”
Well, she does have an interesting idea of fashion!

Asher: “I went to the beach & got some shells!
Asher: “Can you hear the ocean in that one, Chancery?”
Chancery: “Yes, I can!”
Chancery: “Here, you try it!”
Asher: “Even after you have left the beach, you can still have a piece of the ocean with you!”
Chancery: “Isn’t it great?”
One of the boys on Asher’s bus lives just down the road from us. This boy is a bit older than Asher, & we were asking Asher if he knew how old “J” is.
“I don’t know, but he’s one of the big kids. My teacher tells me at recess that I have to stay with the kindergartners. I don’t like to play with the kindergartners. I would much rather play with the big kids. I really like ‘J’ and his mates.”
It is a bit telling of the social interactions at school. Asher’s teachers have been concerned with some of Asher’s behaviour this year, & we have been suspicious that part of it is due to him not having a lot in common with the other kids his age. For the last week, Asher has been heading down to visit ‘J’ after school almost everyday, & we have seen a vast improvement in his behaviour at school as well.
Yesterday we got a note home from the teacher that Asher had been hit in the head with a ball, but seemed to be fine. When we asked Asher what happened…
“Well, I was following ‘J’ around, & he was on the basketball court. But then I couldn’t see him anymore, so I was just walking around looking for him. Then I saw him again, & I was just watching him throw the ball into the basket with the other big kids, & I was counting how many times they got it in. But then one of the boys threw the ball in from the bottom of the net & it came out the top. It came right down at me & I just didn’t move out of the way in time.”
We called the kids to dinner the other night & had a bit of a mishap as they made their way to the table. Chancery lost her footing & landed on her face on the floor.
At first she didn’t want any attention drawn to her lovely lip, but after a little discussion, she agreed to a few photos…
It really looked bad, but by the next morning you couldn’t even tell that she hand bonked it. The body is an amazing thing!
